Where is a good spot to go fishing near Philadelphia?

I am mainly looking for easy to catch fish, like pan fish; like bluegills, sunfish, catfish, and crappie. I am planing a trip for people who have never fished before so needs to be easy and fun. A place not too far from Philadelphia with clean water.

What to use when fishing?

Ok, I have a big question. My favorite fishing spot is McCook Lake. It’s an oxbow lake formed from the Missouri river. I fish at the end of the lake. I need some help. I have a hard time getting fish to bite, so if anyone can help me out that’d be awesome. He’s what the fishing spot is like:

- There’s a pipe where the river water comes into lake. The water’s moving pretty fast out of there and cause a lot of turbulence. I’m hoping the fish are used to it and maybe it’s helping because it’s putting oxygen into the water.
- 5-8 feet depth
- Lot’s of vegitation on the shores, but the lake bottom is pretty barren.
- Rocks by the pipe and mud further away.
- Know species of fish there are carp, channel and flathead catfish, largemouth and white bass, walleye, and crappie.

I need some tips to help catch walleye, catfish, and largemouths. I fish from the shore only.

new parakeet perched on my hand?

i got a new budgie from petco as a friend for my first parakeet. when we got home, i took my first parakeet (Sage) out of the cage, so the new one (Kairi) could settle in (i was told not to put it in all at once, because they might fight). anyways, Sage was perching on my finger when I opened Kairi’s box…Kairi was already climbing out, and she perched on my finger too. i let them play together on the “bird playground”, and it seemed like they liked each other, so i put them together in the cage. after a while, i stuck my finger in there, and Sage perched on it, and i put him on the bird playground, and then when i put my hand back in there, Kairi perched on there too.

was this a result of Kairi seeing that Sage was comfortable coming onto my hand, so she followed along? She came from a pet shop, and had never been handtamed (i asked, not from assuming general knowledge). is it just her character to be so brave? i’m still in shock, because i assumed i had to hand tame it.

Possibilities of interbreeding fish and creating new species?

I’m asking this same question in the Zoology Section of Science & Mathematics.

I’ve heard of fish hybrids; striped bass (Morone saxatilis) and white bass (Morone chrysops). I know they do it at the hatcheries. How about different species? Let’s say a bluegill sunfish (Lepomis macrochirus) and a redear sunfish (Lepomis microlophus)? Or a bluegill sunfish and a black crappie (Pomoxis nigromaculatus)? Or a largemouth bass (Micropterus salmoides) and a smallmouth bass (Micropterus dolomieui)?

How about an Oscar (Astronotus ocellatus) and the Red-Bellied Piranha (Pygocentrus nattereri)? Would this combonation be possible at all? How?
In a laboratory or hatchery perhaps.

I’ve heard of people making offspring of lions and tigers mixed, why would this not be possible with fish of relatively similar characteristics?

Also I could care less whether or not they were sterile hybrids.

What would be the best fish species to put in a pond to bring the bluegill population under control?

The pond is roughly an acre located in southern Illinios. The bluegill we been catching are 1 to 2 inches in length.
