Cockatiel help!?

My bird tried to fly off of an out-of-cage perch and he hurt his tail feather. It is not bleeding but if something hits it he screaches! What do I do?! It only happened like 3 minutes ago.

To show, or in reaction to, their anxiousness, song birds will swipe their bills on their perches. Why?

I understand that the bill swiping is a functional response, developed over years of evolving, but it is done to satisfy a need. What is that need? Why bill swiping? Why do they do it? What does it do for them? I know it shows us that the bird is anxious, or nervous, or agitated, etc. But, why do they choose bill swiping? What need does it satisfy for them? Humans choose to chew their fingernails, or pace around the room. We know why they do it. Do we know why birds do this, specifically?

The bald-eagle, the embodyment of America?

“He is a Bird of bad moral character. He does not get his Living honestly. You may have seen him perched on some dead Tree near the River, where, too lazy to fish for himself, he watches the Labour of the Fishing Hawk; and when that diligent Bird has at length taken a Fish, and is bearing it to his Nest for the Support of his Mate and young Ones, the Bald Eagle pursues him and takes it from him.”

“With all this Injustice, he is never in good Case but like those among Men who live by Sharping & Robbing he is generally poor and often very lousy. Besides he is a rank Coward: The little King Bird not bigger than a Sparrow attacks him boldly and drives him out of the District. He is therefore by no means a proper Emblem for the brave and honest Cincinnati of America who have driven all the King birds from our Country…”

Ben Franklin said that. Hehe, the bald eagle is truly american. But if the turkey was our national bird, would there be US imperialism?
“I am on this account not displeased that the Figure is not known as a Bald Eagle, but looks more like a Turkey. For the Truth the Turkey is in Comparison a much more respectable Bird, and withal a true original Native of America… He is besides, though a little vain & silly, a Bird of Courage, and would not hesitate to attack a Grenadier of the British Guards who should presume to invade his Farm Yard with a red Coat on.”

We insecure Americans just think we tough. We mean, we bad, we big, we kill. Muhahaha. We take over you’s land, money, production. We mighty. All you’s are belong to us.

But if our national bird was turkey, would we be more like strong and brave. Instead of taking over, we make our own. Be proud, not a pretentious selfish insecure thief.

*Note: Ben Franklin didnt advocate the turkey, he just prefered it over the bald eagle.
Imperialism under the wings of the bald-eagle lol.
Turkey, peck the british lion to death man, swarm the russian bear to submission, beat up terrorists like an angry mother protecting a child (u’ve all seen how angry women are) instead of looking around from above, afraid, waving our big wings to hide our insecurity. Turkeys are like, U DAM GERRY, FOR FRANCE . Eagles are like, BOO! and thats it. lol im jsut having fun here making stuff up. I lie. That statement is true. I tell the truth, that statement is false. hehehe
