I have a four month old budgie. He seems to be happy. He’s a little quiet, but eats and flies fine. He’s very tame and was hand -reared. Sometimes he just sleeps on my bed or a shelf or the bottom of his cage. Whenever he’s on his perch (or similar) he wobbles, even while asleep. Can this be normal for a young budgie?
Hi all i have 2 budgies, male and female i then added a new budgie to the gang over the weekend and the female keeps pecking at the new one and wont let him/her *cant tell as she is a baby and has purple bill* on the perch. Is this normal?

I had my fingernails painted black and my pet budgie wouldn’t perch on my finger like he normally does. My boyfriend said it was because they hate black. So i took my nail polish off and he perched. Why do parakeets hate black so much?
I have 2 parakeets in the same cage, and the older one has started breathing hard all the time in the last day or so. I’ve had them about 4 years now, and I have no idea how old the sick one is. The other one seems normal, she’s younger, active, and very loud. The sick one is a male, and has always been on the quiet side. He eats and hopes up on perches and such, but I noticed he is breathing hard and stays fluffed up. It’s like he’s scared. His droppings have changed to a looser yellowish color, rather than a formed greenish color. I can’t afford to take him to the vet, who by the way, is about 50 miles away. The gas cost would get me before we even get there. Is he just old? Is there anything I can give him without a prescription? Help!
i’m considering purchasing 4 budgie’s from a local pet store, first of all is it ok to buy from pet stores? and when i buy them what are some things that i should immediately purchase along with them? i have a huge black cage, food and water dishes, a few toys, and perches already. oh and food. am i missing anything important? should i immediately take them to a vet?
please help!!

hi, ive had my budgie for about 1.5 months now, and ive noticed that he never seems to play with his toys, i havent seen him play with them once (i rotate them too), he just loves to be in his cage and sit on his perch, sometimes chirping sometimes changing perch or just sleeping, and he doesnt really like to leave his home. although he is really tame with me, he will sit with me on my shoulder or finger happily, he still gets freaked out easily with weird noises or when for example my significant other walks by, then he will just fly away and find a corner and sit there chirping, until i offer him my finger and he jumps right back on. i know its a good sign that he is comfortable being with me, but my questions are:
1. does it take a long time for them to be fully comfortable with their surroundings? or will he never be fully comfortable?
2. is it normal for budgies to not be interested in toys?

Yeah thats smart so she gets eaten by my cat or breaks her neck. Real smart. Shes a baby and panicke’s.
