My parakeet is losing feathers….?

I’ve found about 3 long (wing) feathers on the bottom of his cage, but i’ve been finding small fluffy ones since i got him (about a month ago). He’s still chirping and pretty active, and enjoys perching on my finger to “get a bigger view”. He’s eating normally and loves trying new food. His droppings were strange (runny) for a couple hours, but they’re fine now. What could be wrong? Molting? this is my first bird. what should i do?

Is my Zebra Finch sick?

For the past week or so, I noticed my Zebra Finch has been fluffed out. She has never done this before, even when it was cold out, or really warm. She doesn’t use her perch much, preferring to sit in the corner of her cage. She still eats and drinks normally, and I’ve been extra careful to make sure the room stays quiet, or as quiet as it can with two kittens running around, thinking she might be nervous with the new sounds. Does anyone have any advice? What are some common signs of illness in Finches? Anything I can do right now?

My bird falls off his perch in his sleep. Help!?

So it may sound weird but my bird will literally just fall into such a deep sleep that he falls to the bottom of his cage. I wake up to the bang almost every night. I am very aware of his movements while i sleep so I can tell if he is moving around before he falls (which has also happened). I also know about night terrors. He has those sometimes too. I have a night light for him and two fish tanks in my room, both of which have their lights on all night. So the night terrors have calmed down, but I’m really concerned that he’s going to hurt himself one night. His cage is about four feet tall, and the perch that he INSISTS on sleeping on is about three feet up. Any suggestions or ideas on why he just randomly plops down?
Yeah I’ve been thinking about doing the towel thing. I do think that’s best for now.

Also, in regard to the fish, I know they need the lights off too. I switch em out every day. One gets turned off for a day and night while the other stays on and vice versa. I know it’s not ideal (I work in the aquatics department of a pet store) but it keeps my bird happy and my fish are doing great so no worries.

What supplies would I need for a White Java Dove?

I’m purchasing a Java dove here in the next week and was wondering what supplies would be essential. I already have the cage, perch, swinging perch, food and water bowls, but I was wondering about things like grow your own bird grass, toys, and other fun extras for doves. Also could anyone recommend any books on training doves trick wise.

A play house for my cocketiel?

I have had my cockatiel for about one month and he is slowly starting to trust me. He likes to sit on my shoulder. He is about four months old, just a baby. Anyways… I want to build him a play house so he can be out of his cage and safe will I read or clean my room. I live in a house with two cats and one dog, so the house must be enclosed. What should I use to make it? Wood? Cardboard? Should I use wood or carboard with holes in it so I can place some perches in there and so he can see out? I want to make it three floors with a bong in the middle so he can climb between levels. Each floor should have different toys in it so he doesn’t get bored. What would be good toys?

Now for the big question, is this a good idea to start with? Will he like it? What can I do to make it safer? Please help me!!!
There would be a door on each level to use to clean the house and to get the bird out.

Parakeet Help!?

I just got a parakeet yesterday and I was wondering how to teach him to perch on my finger when he’s ready. My brother-in-law stuck his hand in his cage earlier today and pet him on his back. Earlier today, I also tried, but whenever you stick your hand in his cage, he scoots away. How do I get him to not be scared? This is my first bird. Also, how do you tell the sex of the bird?
