What’s wrong with my cockatiel? Is he sick?

My cockatiel is about eight months old. I bought him at the pet store about a month ago and so far everything as been fine. He came, got used to me and now things have just turned sour. He hisses when I go to pick him up, he bites at me whenever I perch him on my finger and he has no interest in being on my shoulder or anywhere around me anymore. Sometimes he has his sweet moments but others…He’s just a little demon!

Also, he’s been sneezing a lot more, trying to fly more than he usually did and itching at his legs with his beak. And, when I touch him in a certain area on his belly [it's in the corner left, near his foot] he goes crazy with biting and scratching at me.

Is he sick? Should I take him to the vet?

how long does it take for a budgie to settle into his home?

k, im quiet new to birds. so how long on average does it take for a budgie to completely settle into a new home? i have had mine 2 weeks, and he will sit on my finger or shoulder and let me scratch his head (sometimes), however he doesnt like to leave his cage for long and he is jumpy when he hears a new sound and he always seems to scare quite easily and then flys away. and i havent seen him play with his toys yet which ive been rotating for him, he just sits on his perch most of the time and then occasionaly climbs around and occasionally chirps for a while. i leave the cage open too (it has a big door) and he doesnt leave home. however sometimes he will come out and go sit on the top. so anyway, how long does it take for a budgie to settle into his home?

A gray butterfly kept perching on my finger even if I shoo it away. What is the meaning of this?

I was in the place where my mother used to live and this gray butterfly kept perching on my finger. I shooed it away but it kept coming back? Does anyone know if this is some kind of a message or omen? Is it good or bad?

Why does my Cockatiel keep biting me?

I’ve had him for about a year now. He likes to have his head scratched. When I place my finger by him for him to perch on, sometimes he will bow his head down, motioning for me to scratch his head. If I don’t scratch his head, he’ll bite me! And it’s a nasty pinch, not just a little nip.

This happens maybe half the time when I offer my finger for him to perch on.

Also, he gets mad for no reason. I can tell when he’s upset, as he’ll fluff up his feathers and make a grating noise with his beak.

He doesn’t play with his toys, so maybe he’s just bored? I demonstrated how to play with his toys but he’s just not interested. I’m not sure what I can do.

get rid of them?

Ok I have 4 parakeets. I really do like them, but i am now wanting a bird that will like to be around me, and like being held and everything with me and having it be larger then paraketts.. I know I will get soo upset if I have to give them away because I dont want them to go really. Out of all the birds only 2 will go on my finger for only 4 seconds. They get scared whenever I try to change their food, and they get scared they dont really like being near me. I have had them for about 2 years, and im not sure if i should give them away or keep. them. Sometimes they get on my nerves so much! I spend all my money on them buying them toys, they have a huge cage, they have water, perches, playgyms, swings. I just want a more attached bird, but I really…..dont want to give my parakeets away. Plus, I cant have 4 parakeets and another larger bird because my dad wouldnt llet me. Also, i feel bad when I think about giving them away.
I hate to say I want to give them away, but I dont know. I want to but i know when the time comes i cant. Also, there is noo way in the world that my dad will let me have 4 parakeets a hamster and another large bird in my room. Also, I know by even thinking about giving my birds away makes me a bad owner. I just idk!! its so hard to explain. I just want a bird that will like me, and not keep squacking and flying away from me every time i go near them. I really do not wanna give them away. but really thats my only chance of getting another larger bird. I dont want to but…idk. Don’t parakeets live up to 10 years?
Im not forcing them to do anything. That is one of the last things i do. It has been 2 years, and they still dont want to come near me. I accept them for who they are, i just dont think i am the right owner for them. I feel bad giving them away, very bad, but i want to but dont want to. I dont know.. :(
I would definialty NOT let them outside my yard or kill them. I am not an animal killer.
Do you guys think if I get their wings clipped, they would trust me more because I will be handling them more often? Or do you think it will stress them out :( ? I know that their wings is what makes them , theirself, but what do you guys think about wing clipping then? If i do get their wings clipped how long do you think it will take for them to fogive me for doing it,?

new parakeet perched on my hand?

i got a new budgie from petco as a friend for my first parakeet. when we got home, i took my first parakeet (Sage) out of the cage, so the new one (Kairi) could settle in (i was told not to put it in all at once, because they might fight). anyways, Sage was perching on my finger when I opened Kairi’s box…Kairi was already climbing out, and she perched on my finger too. i let them play together on the “bird playground”, and it seemed like they liked each other, so i put them together in the cage. after a while, i stuck my finger in there, and Sage perched on it, and i put him on the bird playground, and then when i put my hand back in there, Kairi perched on there too.

was this a result of Kairi seeing that Sage was comfortable coming onto my hand, so she followed along? She came from a pet shop, and had never been handtamed (i asked, not from assuming general knowledge). is it just her character to be so brave? i’m still in shock, because i assumed i had to hand tame it.

How can I get my parakeet out of the cage without freaking out the bird?

I have 2 birds male (blueberry) and female (kiwi). I am planning to breed them. I have another bird which is albino and her husband just recently died. She is sick so I cannot breed her so I got two new birds that are very smart and friendly. The blue one loves crawling on my hand and the perch, the green one is a little more scared. when the bird is on my finger i go to bring him out of the cage and he gets scared and flys of my finger back to the perch. I have tried luring him out evreyday with a treat but he gets scared. When i force him out he loves it. How can i get him to want to come out?
