I caught 2 sunfish, 2 pickeral, and 2 crappies. I have them in a stagnant bucket of water from the lake. How long will they survive? I need them to survive around 15 hours. I’m bringing them home tommorow. Will they survive? I was told they should. The bucket is 1.5/4 full. I have no aireators and no plants with me. The pond is in the back of my grandmas house so I can walk down and get more water.
Yesterday I hooked a 4′ flathead on a panfish gold hook LOL I was not expecting anything THAT large and was awestruck when what I thought was a tight drag setting was simply not tight enough to keep this monster from pulling out to the left and back around a stump and to the right before I tightened my drag. At that point my gear shot out of the creek back at me and I recovered all of my gear, but I want to go back and try again and would like to know if I should just let it go loose on drag and keep it loose to maneuver my line over the stump as it travels or keep it tight to not let the fish do what it obviously wants to do. If you have experience working in backwater creeks like this from a raised position and opportunity to make it to the bank after the fish is tired, as to land it, please give me some of your fishing guru wisdom here. I will trial and error based on some good technique ideas. I can’t buy any other reels or poles so what I am looking for is technique and experience in an answer, not equipment upgrades or boat usage. By raised position I mean that I would start out on the road/flow through pipes and maneuver down rocky embankment to the shore to drag him in.
BQ: Am I living a fantasy thinking I might be able to land a 50# flathead in this manner? I am not looking to be ridiculed here peeps. I love fishing and that thing just gave me the most exciting 12 seconds of my fishing experiences and I am just hoping I might be able to learn some ideas to be more prepared from you.

I am a recreational angler who usually fishes for bluegill, perch, and bass in a small lake in West Michigan. This spring, for spring break, I am going to the bahamas, and where I am staying (Hope Town, the Abacos) I heard has excellent fishing from the dock. I have no idea how this type of fishing might differ from my usually area. I need a guide or website or just an answer that can explain differences in bait, tackle, methods, etc, and the size of fish I might be catching.

Okay so I go fishing alot and I never catch anything unless luck comes my way…. Sometimes I fish for bass, some times I fish for crappy or bluegill. Just catching something good in size without needing expensive lures and equipment is fun. I usually keep getting snagged on the bottom of the creek. The creek I fish as is full of bass, crappy, and bluegill…but rarely do I pull anything out or get any bites. Sometimes I would catch a few good 10 -14 inch bass. But that’s rarely….I want to bring home the big ones!
Any tips on bait and fishing techniques to not get snagged at the bottom of rocks and such?
Any tips to using certain types of lures and baits? I try not to use expensive lures because of the snagging.
I use 15lb test line and a good size hook, not sure the size but it’s a good size to pull in big bass..if I would ever get a chance to hook a big one. Sometimes I would use smaller size hooks and different bait for crappy..no luck with either fish types really..
for bluegills I would use wax worms, and regular night crawler worms.
For bass I would use 10 inch long powerbait lures…I’ve used light and dark colored ones. I’ve tried a few spinners. I’ve tried using different types of rubber jiggs.
Maybe my sinker and hook set up is wrong?…could that be the cause for snagging and not getting any fish?
Could setting the sinkers wrong be a factor?
Sometimes I stand on the docks, some times I stand in the bushes area where the land leads out to the deep end of the creek. Sometimes there’s shadows, sometimes there’s not.
we fish a man-made lake surrounded by about 100 luxury houses. it is connected to a nearby river by two canals. some people say the fish caught from it (largemouth bass, crappies and catfish) are safe to eat but some others say that, because of the chemicals that people use on the landscaping in people’s backyards that can runoff into the lake, it is not safe. i’ve called the local county health department and they have no information. i don’t see how it’d be any more harmful than eating fish from the farm ponds and sloughs here in the california central valley (which people do all the time).

I have started a aquarium, and have some bluegills that I caught at a local lake. I don’t like the feel of the fish so I’m gonna release the bluegills and start of with some tropical fish maybe some Angle fish or something. Since the fish is completely different, should I empty the tank and start new or just do a partial water change.
thanks
