My Parakeet is SICK!?

i am very concerened about my parakeet. she hardly communicates with her companion, and she is always fluffed up as if she’s about to go to sleep. She has a lot of crust on her beak, and her yellow feathers always look dirty. I am also concerned, cause she constantly twitches, and on her perches, or poles, she constantly taps her feet in this rhythm [[tap, tap, tap, tap tap tap, tap, tap, tap]] it scares me. I asked someone about this, and they suggested that she has obssesive compulsive disorder. I’m not so sure about that though… can anyone help?? She’s always in weird positions too. Shes hanging upside down like a bat with ONE FOOT THOUGH! helllpppppppppp!!!

Um yeah… Cockatiel Nipping?

I got a young cockatiel last month that was 8 months old (named him Kaneki), and he was handfed and very cheery and friendly. He’s awesome at learning whistles and sounds (he’s already learned a tune my dad whistles all the time, says a garbled version of his name, and mimics sounds my parakeet makes)! The problem is when anyone else tries to interact with him, he never wants to step up. He’s perfectly fine with me moving him around from perch to finger, shoulder to finger, etc., but when they try to do it he starts growling and nipping all over their fingers. After he does this, he starts bobbing his head and chirping like he does when he’s especially happy/excited. I’m suspecting because they often pull away when he does this, and give him back to me, that he thinks he’s getting what he wants. Me.

Does this sound right? And any suggestions on what action to take? I’m just trying to figure out the best way to tackle this problem before it gets worse.

Thanks in advance!

dead bird?

This morning I woke up not only to the first day of school, but to my little brother’s pet parakeet dead at the bottom of its cage. The day before it seemed fine. It was chirping away like always, but I did notice it sitting at the bottom of the cage puffed out. That was the only weird behavior I saw. In its cage it’s laying there with its eyes open and it looks like the claws are tucked away under his feathers. It looks like he just fell off the perch to me, but does anyone know what could’ve happened to him? Any strange bird diseases I should know about? There were barely no warning signs.

My parakeet is losing feathers….?

I’ve found about 3 long (wing) feathers on the bottom of his cage, but i’ve been finding small fluffy ones since i got him (about a month ago). He’s still chirping and pretty active, and enjoys perching on my finger to “get a bigger view”. He’s eating normally and loves trying new food. His droppings were strange (runny) for a couple hours, but they’re fine now. What could be wrong? Molting? this is my first bird. what should i do?
