Doughballs and Bluegill?

How did we ever come to catch bluegill with dough balls. It isn’t part of their natural diet so what is it about bread balls that attracts them? Sometimes I can be in the remotest part of a lake and still catch just as many with worms as I can with balled of pieces of a left over sandwich.

Anyone got an answer for this one?

Several years ago, my wife and I joined my mom and dad at a friend of theirs house that had a private lake. We all brought our fishing gear, and spent the better part of the afternoon and evening fishing and drinking beer. I pulled in a good sized crappie, but since I didn’t know the regulations on a private lake, I threw it back. A few weeks later I told this tale to some buddies of mine, and they just about knocked me out of my barstool. Appearantly, the fish I caught would have been a record setter for the state of Iowa. So my question is what is the game regulations on a private lake, and what should I have done if throwing it back was the wrong thing to do. Looking forward to your answers, and don’t be afraid to share your tales of “the one that got away” as well. Your answer could win ya ten points. Take care.

Snake vs. Fish, part 3

While walking through the Watchung Reservation, Union County, NJ, we noticed a flash of light off the trail. It was a Northern Water Snake struggling to corral a yellow perch it had just caught below the Lake Surprise dam. To swallow the entire fish required about an hour. Fascinating and a bit ghoulish.
