Any suggestions on a handicap friendly cage for a one-legged Parakeet?

Today, I adopted a handicapped parakeet. I was told at PetCo that she had been injured and her leg had to be amputated. I put her in a regular bird cage, only I moved all the perches down very low and put her food and water dishes on the floor of the cage for easy access. I was wondering, however, if any knows of any other kind of cage that might be good for her? I have use a lot of string and whatnot to make sure her toys are low enough to reach.

I would like to put her in a cage with a lower top, but I’m afraid if the bars are too far apart, she might be able to slip out. Any suggestions?

I wondered also if anyone had suggestions as to how I should go about training her? She’s very young, and her amputation was not too long ago, so she’s been through a lot. I don’t want to stress her out, but I would like to start taming her so that I can give her the love she needs.

new parakeet perched on my hand?

i got a new budgie from petco as a friend for my first parakeet. when we got home, i took my first parakeet (Sage) out of the cage, so the new one (Kairi) could settle in (i was told not to put it in all at once, because they might fight). anyways, Sage was perching on my finger when I opened Kairi’s box…Kairi was already climbing out, and she perched on my finger too. i let them play together on the “bird playground”, and it seemed like they liked each other, so i put them together in the cage. after a while, i stuck my finger in there, and Sage perched on it, and i put him on the bird playground, and then when i put my hand back in there, Kairi perched on there too.

was this a result of Kairi seeing that Sage was comfortable coming onto my hand, so she followed along? She came from a pet shop, and had never been handtamed (i asked, not from assuming general knowledge). is it just her character to be so brave? i’m still in shock, because i assumed i had to hand tame it.

can i use a 45 gallon “Plastic CONTAINER”?

my 2 goldfish have grown to 5″ and are getting harassed by the small convict and each day their fins get nipped more and more, can i put them in a 45 gallon container is all blue and i will add gravel, filter, and a few big fake plants, is the container appropriate for water too i heard some friends that putted their bluegills in a 55 gallon container in their basement, will it be ok to use this container as a tank? is gonna be placed on the floor of my basement because i don’t want my goldfish anymore, they came from the school and im just keeping them because my mom said not to kill them and i cant give them to petco because they will keep them in bad conditions and probably die, and i cant find a lake or a pond with kois and goldfish near.
