new parakeet perched on my hand?

i got a new budgie from petco as a friend for my first parakeet. when we got home, i took my first parakeet (Sage) out of the cage, so the new one (Kairi) could settle in (i was told not to put it in all at once, because they might fight). anyways, Sage was perching on my finger when I opened Kairi’s box…Kairi was already climbing out, and she perched on my finger too. i let them play together on the “bird playground”, and it seemed like they liked each other, so i put them together in the cage. after a while, i stuck my finger in there, and Sage perched on it, and i put him on the bird playground, and then when i put my hand back in there, Kairi perched on there too.

was this a result of Kairi seeing that Sage was comfortable coming onto my hand, so she followed along? She came from a pet shop, and had never been handtamed (i asked, not from assuming general knowledge). is it just her character to be so brave? i’m still in shock, because i assumed i had to hand tame it.

What are some sporty outdoor activities I can do with my children in the winter?

We spend the whole spring, summer, and fall camping and the kids are already asking to go. It’s too cold right now though, so we bundle up and go to the playground, hiking in the woods, and play out in the yard.

Where we live there are bass, bluegill, trout, etc., in the lakes. Are those guys active enough to fish for them during the winter months?

Thanks so much!
They’re still little but love making cookies for the neighbors. We just went out two weeks ago for a really fun hike with our park district for animal trucks in the snow (no snow so was mud) and my six year old can identify deer tracks and raccoon now. :D The little one gets excited about them too, and points out where the neighbor’s cat walked across our snow.

I LOVE the squirt gun idea! We’ll definitely do that today. They usually have spotted snow men from food color drops so we have plenty.

And thanks!
