I’m just gonna get right to it. I seriously feel like I’m beginning to become a nuisance to this section…
1) You’re supposed to use an aerator when keeping live bait fish. Define what an aerator is, and tell me what kind I need, please? It doesn’t need to be anything elaborate, and it does need to be economical.
2) I have my regular sport fishing license with no additional validations. The only one that I would need (excluding report cards for certain species) is the additional rod validation. But my question is, do you truly recommend this? I know its totally personal preference, but what about you? Do you have this. The only reason I’m thinking about getting it is for trolling purposes, as well as being able to use two different kinds of bait/lures/fishing methods at once, and therefore, catching more fish. It seems interesting.
3) Speaking of trolling, how do you use actual trolling rigs(with large blades and multiple hooks)? Theoretically, I can’t imagine attaching one of those to my line and pole, seeing that the rigs weigh a lot on their own, and only increase in weight as more fish get caught on it. So what do I connect it to? NOTE: At the moment, I do not have a motor although that is a work in progress, so keep that in mind when answering this one.
4) Has anyone tried the Berkley PowerBait Crappie bites? If so, does it work? If not, what’s the quickest way to catch bluegill and other panfish? Don’t get me wrong, I love fishing for the thrill of fishing and landing fish, but on days when I want to catch my bag limit first, I would like to do that as quickly as possible, and THEN relax and enjoy the sport.
5) How hard is it to troll by yourself?
6) The pole holders on my inflatable boat (the economical option I had to choose until I can afford an aluminum one) are sort of loose. Is there anything I can do to make a tighter fit? I’m very protective of my poles and gear. Thanks in advance.
I’m not JUST fishing for bluegill, by the way. I fish for a lot of different species. Bass, Trout, Cats, Kokanee, etc. I just prefer bluegill as far as keeping/eating goes.
Also, I’m not talking about regular PowerBait. I KNOW that won’t work. I’m talking about nuggets that they make specifically for panfish. This: http://www.berkley-fishing.com/products/soft-bait/powerbait/biodegradable-crappie-nibbles
