Im trying to jig for panfish. Today I bought some 1/32oz jigheads. I want to have some heavier ones on hand just to have them, but I can’t decide whether 1/16oz or 1/18oz is better for Panfish jigging. Eventually I will obviously get both and more, but I can only get one or the other today. Which is best for panfish jigging in cold water? I don’t imagine there’d be too much difference, but then again I’ve never touched a jighead before in my life until 2 days ago..
Also, I’m referring to unpainted, round-head ones. If necessary, I’ll paint them myself.
So, I’m out to catch some panfish. Bluegill mainly. The water is still pretty damn chilly, thank to all the cold fronts hitting back to back. Because of that, the ‘gills aren’t bedding or spawning yet. I’m wondering, would a drop shot rig be good to catch them in these conditions? I’d still use a little size 8 hook with a night crawler, but I’m thinking the drop shot rig may let me get deeper to where they are. What do you think?
… And will a drop shot rig work for bluegill situated in deeper water?
Please rate the deck and give me any suggestions on how to improve my deck.

I like to wade through the creek and fish for panfish, perch, bass, etc. At times, I’ll be in waist deep water, and I’m always moving. What is the best way to keep the fish I catch? I can’t really hold on to a stringer the whole time.
Also, what is the best way to transport fish you’ve caught to your home? In a cooler full of ice I guess?
I absolutley LOVE fishing. Its so relaxing and fun, but I cant seem to catch fish
The lake that we go to, people are always catching fish all around me but me…. Nothing! I try worms, minnow, different lures, different water depths. I must be doing something wrong. What do crappies like, thats mostly the fish that people are catching. How about bass?
